To generate buzz before the release, an updated teaser trailer has been exhibited on social media, youtube video.
The trailer sets the scene with an equilibrium response. A long shot is used to capture the wedding event that begins before all the destruction and devastation. Intense non diegetic music begins to play which is commonly used throughout the trilogy as an incidental sound to create an intense atmosphere. It fades into black instantly which creates the sense of indulging the scene into darkness alongside its world. Then comes the non diegetic voice over by actress Jennifer Lawrence. This begins the contrast between the happy wedding and the pessimistic speech.
The following frames demonstrates instant flashes of wedding events which is rushed sequences showing an instant of happiness. Diegetic noises of laughing and clapping are emphasis to build on the atmosphere. A birds eye view is used to show the people attending the wedding dancing which with the high angle makes them seem dis empowered to what is to come.
In the next frames, a variety of settings are used to show the impact of characters within the fictional microcosm. The protagonist ventures through the Districts building her army which is complimented through the derelict scenery. The contrast between the rich and poor are shown through scenery and props building to this revolution narrative. A shot reverse shot is used at eye level to show an understanding between each character which is complimented through use of facial expressions.
A conventional aspect of action films is the use of special effects such as explosions which build to the danger aspect of the atmosphere making the microcosms message appeal to a wide target audience.
The existing audience will note that the only other non-diegetic voice over included is the voice of the opposition which demonstrates the conflict between two essential characters which emphasizes their role importance to the narrative adaptation. This makes the trailer clearly exhibit features of an action- adventure film.
The end sequence provides the needed information for exhibition and uses the sound motif to emphasise the iconic hunger games whistle which has been a way for the audience to identify with the film.
